Who Are We?The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling. We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe. What a loss to the music world.
$5,000,000 for a rapper? Sounds like Willy Wonka’s competition.
The two of them actually emerged from Michael Wharton’s Peter Simple column and ended up in real life, for a wasted while.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind.
It eould neither surprise me, nor upset me, where the killers of that US citizen not be pursued by the US government for that crime with comparable vigour to that displayed in the pursuit of the killers of Leon Klinghoffer.
These days there’s never an F-14 Tomcat around when you want one.
Heh!. If I were the CIA, I’d be setting up swiss accounts in the names of all sorts of jihadis, dropping burner cells with US numbers in them around training camps and the like. Given the level of paranoia in the muslim world, where they routinely arrest wildlife on the charge of being zionist or American spies, it shouldn’t be too hard to get them to thin their own ranks for us.
Well now that’s a frighteningly incisive analysis of a good chunk of my home country…
Sounds like somebody saved the US $5 million. Every little bit helps.
A contender for best Samizdata article title of the year 😀
Shot, not beheaded?
I guess they weren’t at the cutting edge of modern music, then.
Milli Vanilli got off lightly.
Once again, the revolution eats its own.
@Tarrou: I sure hope they are that smart. The Nazis did that to Stalin in the late ’30s, and it was quite successful.
Everyone is a music critic.
Paul, my first reaction was identical to yours.
Black armbands all round at the Guardian, I expect.
Sounds like it was an islamic revolution front versus a front of islamic revolution type of argument!
Quite so Rob.
To die for one’s art is noble. It is good that I’m a useless artist.
