Who Are We?The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling. We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe. Just when I thought 2022 could not get any worse…
I presume it was a children’s competition . . .
As someone almost said to Mae West, “I’m really happy to see you”.
It looks like they started off with Cookie Monster, then it all went horribly wrong.
Someone has been channelling their inner shoggoth
Unlike the woke, who are more horrifying than Cthulu because they are not just dreaming about what they’re going to do to us.
If Cthulhu calls, don’t answer. It’s probably just more phone spam anyhow.
I’m reminded of the ‘Vote Cthulhu – Why Vote For The LESSER Evil?’ meme that goes round at election time.
My sign reads “Why settle for the / Lesser Evil? / elect / Basement Cat
That was an election or two ago. Obviously the Cthulhu meme is longer-lasting than the Basement/Ceiling Cat meme. But I like the cat pictures better.
Osaka is supposed to be rather sane (not insane) city, where people are not as “sophisticated” (i.e. batshit crazy) as other places. So how did this thing get approved?
It looks like something that Dr Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum would make child sacrifices to.
I am rather sad about this – as, again, Osaka is supposed to be a common sense place with an open (and very sane) population. A city of jolly merchants, excellent (and unpretentious) food, craftsmanship and industry. “We Make Things And We Sell What We Make”” might as well be the motto of the city. It is what a city should be.
So why a monster?
Why is Paul so pessimistic? I think that a Cthulhu vs Godzilla fight is just what the world needs!! Maybe Osaka wants to host it?
Well Nicholas – Osaka has been rebuilt before. And could be rebuilt again.
As the saying goes “as long as the castle is still here – it is still Osaka”.
