We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Secret Agent Mr Phelps:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to explore an ultra-secret North Korean missile launch facility located several kilometers inland from a section of due south facing coastline not far from the Chinese border. There is a small town about 1-2km south of the pad, directly under the most probable launch trajectory. A mad ruler is thought to be building nuclear capable ICBM’s at this site. We do not believe their technological level makes them capable of success at the task at present, so we recommend you do not use the town as a base of operations.
Find the various facilities and report back to us. Should you be captured or your computer be eaten by starving North Korean peasants, Samizdata will disavow all knowledge of your existence.
Your targets may be found near N40°51’17” E129°39’58” via http://maps.google.co.uk/ at the 50 meter per 2.5 centimeter scale.
Good luck and good hunting.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

How long do we wait before tipping off the norks?
Sadly once you get outide the capital Pyongyang, the really cool high rez satellite images are not available. You can sort of make out statues of the Great Leader in the city but I was trying to check out the airport 24 km due north from the city centre and could only get a fairly poor resolution… no doubt in time those areas will become available too.
More statues than cars.
Even looking around PyongYang, there are many buses and trucks, but no cars despite the many roads.
Maybe they are all parked in the People’s Glorious Underground Car Park of the Revolution?
Do you mean here?
(if not edit the pin – you have to guess the password. I will neither confirm nor deny that the password begins with s and has nine letters )
Francis… who are we to doubt your intelligence sources? 🙂
Actually, I just left a message for Perry about this and that is perhaps exaclty not where we’d land. Notice how your selected point shares much in common with Omaha Beach. A wide expanse of sand leading to a steep cliff topped by what I am fairly certain is probably a pillbox.
Also, I would want to look more closely at the field to the right to get a handle on what those lines are. Might be some sort of tank traps but a nickle and that supposition wouldn’t even get you a cup of coffee any more.
For higher resolution, see:

and scroll to bottom of page.
Dale – suspect the “lines” are just steps cut in the hillside to stop soil run-off from agricultural areas.
You are looking in the wrong place. Look at the wide open field on top of the ‘cliffs’ above the beach, perhaps a half kilometer to the right of the pillbox. The lines are bright, perhaps 20m long and a couple wide and laid out in a grid.
Dale – I see what you mean, but if you scan around they are all over the place, including at right angles to the coastline and inland. Still think they are farming related, like (say) sheds for pigs or hens.
I would agree that is a possibility. I have been on farmland with long rows of animal sheds, although they were never anywhere near the size of those.
I highly recommend you download Google Earth for your XP computer, and enter the coordinates.
Then, Check the “Terrain” box, and Tilt the land at an oblique angle. You can see how the various installations are situated on the hillsides, and can look for any underground entryways you may think you see.
You can also rotate the view whilst looking at an angle to get a real good idea of the layout.
Astounding.
Hmmm. I don’t have any ‘XP Computers’. I do however have quite a number of generic I386 compatible computers running Linux 😉
Google does a great deal of good work in the Open Source world so I have hopes they will eventually release a version that would be useable for me.
I did wonder about the ones near shore being on a slope and pointing out to sea… but then as another person pointed out, these things are just all over the place. It has my curiosity quite piqued.
Polytunnels.
Mission acomplished. Was forced to sabotage imminent test firing. Send more gin and limes.
