We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

NO2ID’s Poster Girl I implied here that I would let Samizdata readers know when a new, more inclusive 😉 anti-ID-card pledge was up and running. It is now.
We are lucky to have the charming former stand-up Franky Ma as the pledge leader. As the covers of more consumer magazines, in more countries, than it is comfortable to imagine attest, you cannot go far wrong associating an attractive young woman with your product.
You can give your word to support the nearly 11,000 ID refuseniks here and you can support NO2ID itself, as ever, here.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

Whilst you Brits spend time de-crying national ID cards, I am wondering who is working to stop, hurt, perhaps kill, or at least charge this man with treason as his impact on old England makes the ID card concept look like childs play. A re-alignment of focus may help create progress.(Link)
Listen to the speeches of a man who represents your fellow “citizens”(?)
I read that already, though not on LGF.
Galloway is filth, truly. I do wonder just what treason even is these days.
High treason is still on the books, Galloway is no better than Lord Haw Haw, and they hung him.
Harry’s Place is appalled, of course, but even the leftier types are coming round, like a good friend of mine at Crooked Timber.
At least resisting ID cards makes a change from Al-Jazeera demagoguery or nanny statism.
I believe no one can hang for treason these days as Britain has signed the ECHR.
Loathsome as Galloway is, please stay on-topic.
Sorry.
Thanks for the link; I signed the pledge.
Apparently Tom McNulty, who is the minister responsible for bringing in ID cards, has admitted that the benefits have been “overemphasised”, and predicted that he thought that any Bill introduced to make carrying them compulsory would be blocked by the Lords.
I notice David Davis was onto him immediately as well. Good man.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to identify oneself as being anti-government. It only gets their attention. The best idea is to get into a situation where you don’t have to rely on an ID card in order to survive and prosper.
Samiz admin – wake up to today’s real news.
Staying off-topic, Tony Blair has just published a 12 point plan to counter terrorist activites. I think he has been reading Samizdata.
(here it is)

Quite. Which is the point of doing something to stop state control of ID–it’s much, much more than a card–coming about in the first place.
