We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Samizdata quote of the day II – BBC edition

“Earlier this week, the BBC admitted it had broadcast an hour of primetime television narrated by the son of a Hamas terrorist leader. This connection to terrorism was not initially disclosed to audiences.”

Danny Cohen, Daily Telegraph (£) Here’s a non-paywalled story about this.

Hundreds of thousands will have seen the original programme. A few hundred will see the clarification.
The BBC knows this. And knew it when the programme was broadcast.

James, the BBC is run by scum. One of the reasons why I condemn the recent Tory government is that it could have shut it down, and removed the licence fee, but failed to do so.

    JP,
I don’t think they easily could’ve. We have an odd situation in the UK. We have two institutions that everyone complains about but still are always regarded as Unique Envies of the World and National Treasures. The BBC is one of them. We all know what the other one is. I’m not saying the Tories shouldn’t but alas that is the way it is and until that collective mindset changes we’re stuck with ’em.

Not for nothing is it termed the Biased Broadcasting Corporation. And corpulent it most certainly is …

    “not initially disclosed”

Let me translate: “was only disclosed at gunpoint because we got caught out. Otherwise you suckers would never have heard about it.”

I wonder if Al Beeb would show a programme narrated by a victim of Pakistani Asian rape gangs? After all, this hallowed organisation is supposed to be impartial, right?

This is the sort of thing I would expect from Mr Putin’s “RT” – it seems even my low view of the BBC was not low enough.

By the way – if you find yourself being won over by some of Mr Putin’s better propagandists (and some of them are very good indeed at their job), just turn on RT (via Rumble on some other source) and watch the crude propaganda against Israel (and the support for various horrible NON Islamic regimes around the world – such as Cuba, Venezuela, South Africa, and so on).

Mr Putin appears to think that an alliance with the forces of Islam is the way to win his wars and stay in power – and so he turns a blind eye to what is happening in Russian cities, including terrorist attacks. Mr Putin is a traitor to the Russian people – he should suffer the penalty for treason, which is death.

  • I think the rise of streaming services and the way the Beeb has calculatedly rubbed everyone’s noses in diversity might well have cooled the nation’s collective ardour for it…
