The president of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, offered his condolences over the massacre of worshippers at a church in Owo, Nigeria.
News Letter reports,
Forty people were killed in the attack at the Church of St Francis in the Owo district in the Ondo region of Nigeria on June 5. Over 126 people also suffered injuries following the attack.
In a statement last week, President Higgins appeared to link the attack with climate change.
His comments have drawn criticism from the bishop of the Catholic Ondo diocese, Jude Ayodeki Aroguande, who acknowledged and thanked the president for his condemnation but said the “incorrect and far-fetched” link drawn between the slaughter and climate change was “rubbing salt to the injuries of all who have suffered terrorism in Nigeria”.
In his statement, President Higgins had condemned those responsible for the attack and cautioned against “any attempt to scapegoat pastoral peoples who are among the foremost victims of the consequences of climate change”.
The Labour politician also called for solidarity with “all those impacted not only by this horrible event, but in the struggle by the most vulnerable, on whom the consequences of climate change have been inflicted”.
The former president of the United States, Barack Obama, offered his condolences over the massacre of children at a school in Uvalde, Texas.
The New York Post reports,
The former president shared the message on Twitter Wednesday in the wake of the massacre at Robb Elementary School that killed 19 children and two fourth-grade teachers.
“As we grieve the children of Uvalde today, we should take time to recognize that two years have passed since the murder of George Floyd under the knee of a police officer.” Obama tweeted. “His killing stays with us all to this day, especially those who loved him.”
One got mileage out of the climate alarm fiasco, and longs to get more. The other got the same from the death of the drug-soaked Floyd. Good spot Natalie.
If I wrote what I’m thinking, I’d get banned.
A tragedy is a terrible thing to waste, it would appear.
Bishop Aroguande clearly knows more about compassion than President Higgins does, enough to recognise its absence in statements that pretend its presence – incorrect, far-fetched and rubbing salt in the wound indeed.
Obama and Higgins would have shown more compassion if they had said nothing. As it is with PC virtue, so it is with PC compassion – the more it is signalled, the less it is present.
Strange how climate change (TM) only makes one type of pastoral people murderous sociopaths though.
“Pastoral” is doing some heavy lifting there.
Come now bobby b, most shepherds do not have wool-only flocks, they are looking at their flock with mutton in mind, so ‘pastoral’ seems apt. I think that Chester has coined a euphemism.
Higgins, another president too old for office with a tendency to open his mouth before engaging has brain?
At a point in time the Christian religion morphed from ‘love thy neighbour’ and ‘turn the other cheek’ to ‘inquisitors seek heretics and burn any motherfucker who challenges the absolute authority of the papacy in any way whatsoever’. Martin Luther had a point!
The green religion is experiencing a similar metamorphosis. It too needs a Reformation.
Schrodingers Dog, that may get you lots of credit! As PG Wodehouse once said about books being banned in Boston, it was something to be hoped for!
Political folk should leave their hobby horses at home before talking with adults.
So where does Paul Homewood have to go to nail up his ninety five theses? He has been listing all the climate lies that have been put out by the BBC so that could be the start. Meanwhile here are some photographs of climate change devastation from around the world.
I had forgotten that Mr Higgins was President of the Republic of Ireland – he has a lot of fake charm (what is called “Blarney” in Ireland), but has a life time of support for evil (and I use the word “evil” after thought – not casually) behind him. Many totalitarian collectivist movements around the world have been supported by Michael D. Higgins over the years.
As for Barack Obama – whether the book “Dreams From My Father” was written by him, or by the Marxist terrorist Bill Ayers, or by Mr Obama, or by both of them, the line of thought is clear.
For example, Indonesia in 1966 is, according to “Dreams From My Father” all about the “CIA” killing lots of people who were falsely thought to be Marxists. The facts, that Indonesia had one of the largest Marxist movements in the world, that they tried to take power by force, and were crushed by the Indonesia army and the peasant farmers (who knew that the Marxists would, if they came to power, murder millions of peasants – as the Marxists were doing in China), are ignored in “Dreams From My Father”.
I did not need to do background research, although I then did it the research anyway, to know that Mr Obama was from the Marxist tradition – “Dreams From My Father” made it obvious. And the fact that the international “liberal” establishment covered this up (and sneered at anyone who told the truth about Mr Obama in 2008) told me all I needed to know about the international establishment – just how despicable they had become.
As for the de facto alliance between the Marxists (at least the Frankfurt School Marxists) and certain other anti Western movements – not difficult to understand.
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” – that is how these people think, with “my enemy” being Western “capitalist” civilisation.
For President Higgins to blame an Islamic attack, the murder of 40 people in a church, on “Climate Change” is typical of the man – he has a deep hatred of truth.
Former President Obama and the “murder of George Floyd” – as Barack Obama knows well, Mr Floyd died of fentanyl (which he put down his own throat), about a 100 thousand Americans die of drug abuse every year. Unlike Captain David Dorn, who was shot dead by BLM looters, – David Dorn was black, but not the right sort of black person (he was not, to use the language of the Marxists, a “socially friendly element”).
I don’t hear the clamour to ban AK47s in Nigeria…
