We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Samizdata slogan of the day Many of people who loathe Rupert Murdoch and who hate the fact he has been able to buy up the TV rights to so many sporting events, are the same people who have supported the regulation of British media companies which has ensured Murdoch never has to face any effective competition.
– Michael Jennings

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

Tell me more! It seems to me simply ridiculous that while we have a law-making Parliament we have to wring our hands and say we fear Murdoch. Regulate wisely or deregulate wisely- either way there must be a way without resorting to a monolithic State solution, such as, say, well, if you force me to mention it, the BBC.
Resistence is futile …..
🙂 that’s the fear isn’t it?
The new season of South Park has an episode about anti-smoking nazis and the lies they tell, starring Rob Reiner as the head fascist.
They are slowly trying to do the same thing here (the U.S.), but it’s easier in a country like England where there is government to institute such policies. If Gore had been elected, I think the anti-smoking fascists would have been a lot farther a long by now.
LIEberman is calling for the government to attack food companies. Of course, no one is listening to Senator Palpatine.
Whoops, that was meant for the previous post!
Tell me more!
There is a long post from me explaining the disasters that are British and Australian media regulation coming when I finish writing it – should be some time in the next week.
In the US, males age 18-34 are abandoning private brodcast networks (NBC, CBS, etc.) in droves. They’re going to Internet, cable…
Since that’s a high-spending demographic, it is causing the broadcast suits to worry big-time. And well they should worry.
Rupert has an excellent strategy, if he’s buying up sporting events in the UK for broadcast.
