I’m shocked, shocked:
A man attempting to sue farmer Tony Martin for loss of earnings is back in custody after allegedly breaching the terms of his release from prison.
Brendon Fearon, 33, of Newark, Notts, appeared before the town’s magistrates accused of stealing a Toyota Landcruiser on Aug 24.
He had been serving part of an earlier prison sentence on licence at his home and observing a 7pm to 7am curfew. He did not enter a plea at the hearing and spoke only to confirm his name and address.
Prison sources confirmed that Fearon is back in custody for allegedly breaching the terms of his licence and will be transferred to prison tonight.
There will probably be comments to the effect that here in the great state of (state your state) we do things better and this varmint would be dead by now. Personally, weighing up the evidence and taking a considered and reflective view of the matter, I agree. Tony Martin injured this person in circumstances of maximum fear and confusion. Had he shot him dead, on purpose, in broad daylight, it would have been no more than this nasty parasite deserved, and it would also, in my further opinion, have been “reasonable” (the key legal word here), in self defence against the inevitable next attack.
Will this affect his suit for damages against Mr. Martin?
R.C. Dean – Of course not! Please! We’re civilised Europeans! British courts don’t discriminate between innocent and guilty! How primitive!
A father of three was just sent to prison for five years (out in two) for raping a baby, for heaven’s sake! Life imprisonment – better yet death – would have infringed his “human rights”. (Forget the baby’s human rights. She couldn’t vote yet.) This is Britain.
Fearon will probably win his case, unless it’s a very brave judge – and not have to pay back the £5,000 in taxpayer pounds he’s had so far to prosecute this travesty.
This is exactly what drives a population to mass vigilantism.
In fairness, not every US state has common sense. In New York, Fearon would probably be looking forward to a much bigger potential windfall than he could get out of any English court.
Maybe Britain should look into a “three-strikes-and–you’re out” type of law, like Calfornia’s? This guy is obviously an habitual criminal.
Hmm..
I was just checking world murder rates at Nationmaster.com
Most murderous countries:
1. Colombia (0.65 murders per 1000 people annually)
2. S. Africa (0.5 per 1000 …)
Least murderous countries:
60. Japan (0.01 per 1000)
61. S. Arabia (0 per 1000)
62. Qatar (0 per 1000)
As ar as I know, the three least murderous countries also impose the death penalty. Of course, as every idiot knows, CORRELATION is not the same as CAUSATION.
Still, it’s food for thought.

It might make his claim that he is unable to work a little more difficult. He was obviously busy in his chosen profession when caught.
“He [….] only to confirm his name and address.”
But he didn’t have a biometric ID card–how could they possibly confirm it?
Ha ha! Guy Herbert. Very good!
Susan – Well, yes, you might say Fearon is a habitual criminal. He has been sent back to prison yet again, having been found guilty of taking a car without the owner’s permission. This is his 39th conviction. Even then, the judge was going to let him off (Fearon, needless to say, had an explanation), but the Prison Service stepped in, as he had violated his parole from his last incarceration. So he’s back in the pokey. And the British taxpayer is funding his legal aid to sue Mr Martin for “loss of earnings”.
But don’t forget that Fearon was of gipsy origin, and gipsies are an ethnic group that has long been subject to invidious discrimination and stereotyping on the part of the settled community.
Anti-gipsy racism is now endemic throughout Europe.
Many bigots believe that gipsies are more like to burglarise, mug and rob than non-gipsies.
Only joking.
Don’t forget to (re)read Robert Henderson’s brilliant article on the Tony Martin affair in ‘Free Life’, No 37:

Compared with Henderson’s contribution , our postings are just footnotes.
