Why capitalism is good IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad has has died. Evidence suggests that in his youth, Mr Kamprad was a Nazi. I don’t mean this in any metaphorical sense. He appears to have been an actual Nazi.
Mr Kamprad then went on to conquer the world through selling people flat pack furniture. Rather than the other way.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.

The context here is clear. HOWEVER!
Lest we confuse the political party folk with the all caps acronym NAZI, with the German soldiers/sailors we’ve all seen in movies, I abhor the use of mere “Nazi”,(with lower case) When National Socialist (organized) Labor Party is implied. Yes, I know, blah blah blah “usage”.
Just so we’re all clear on who’s calling who..what, at least in in the current US political atmosphere.
NO idea how this flies in GB.
And I’ve been known to get a wild hair across my …nostrils, about “usage” of Fascist/Fascism, and Alt-Right, as well.
Hitler Was a National Socialist
Sweden is a wacko Socialist country committing cultural suicide.
So I guess there is a connection after all.
Since “Nazi” = “National Socialist,” shouldn’t this fall under “If a man is not a socialist by the time he is 20, he has no heart. If he is not a conservative by the time he is 40, he has no brain”?
Was Hitler brainless, then? He stayed a socialist all his life.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I had occasion to meet, in the way of business, a couple of very senior executives at a large American company. I can’t say which one, but it was involved in “fun”, children, family entertainment and all things wholesome. They turned out to be quite astonishingly unpleasant pieces of work – loathsome, deceitful, aggressive for the sake of it, and wholly without shame ; they particularly delighted in torturing an executive who was representing a supplier of theirs (not me I’m happy to say) and making him grovel in a suitably humiliating fashion. Not for any useful purpose – merely for the joy of it.
I remember thinking at the time – oh yes, I can see these people running concentration camps, in the blink of an eye. My second thought was – how wonderful is the Great God Capitalism that such people can be induced to devote their energies to bilking doting parents out of a few dollars, for mawkish movies and overpriced toys – instead of using their brains and energy to secure a high position in the apparat of an unhappier land – Gauleiter perhaps – so as to visit their malevolence on human toys.
Sounds like a Mickey-Mouse outfit.

Three points regarding Kamprad.
Anyone can be a fool at 17; he got better.
The SSS appears least slightly distanced from the German Nazis, having dropped the swastika.
In 1943, the real depths of Nazi inhumanity were still concealed. The Allies did not look all that much better: Stalin’s USSR, the US with lynch law and Jim Crow, Britain with Ireland in 1919-1921, Amritsar, the Bengal famine of 1943. And area bombing of German cities. Today we know what the moral choice really was, but at the time a teenager could be easily confused.
Additional point: that the NSDAP included the word “Sozialistische” is deceptive. While the Nazis preached some socialistic doctrine in 1920-1933, they did not implement any socialist redistributionist policies in power.
