We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

A period of silence would be welcome A protester against a possible war against Iraq is urging fellow-minded people to observe a 24-hour period of total silence as a way of registering their views.
It is tempting to mock, but this writer cannot help feeling that if 99 percent of so-called peace activists took a Trappist monk-like vow of silence, the rest of us who do think there is a case for ridding the world of Saddam would be grateful. Come on you Ted Ralls, Robert Fisks, Michael Moores – shut your traps.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

For that matter, those of use who oppose an invasion of Iraq and are not communists would also appreciate it.
I would do anything for trade. But I won’t do THAT…
RE: Communist peacies, So Ken, are people that are FOR military action in Iraq bloodthirsty kid killers?
every last one of them.
i checked.
😉
I have no idea what people who favor military action in Iraq drink. They do seem to be in favor of having someone else do the killing (of whoever) for them, though.
Then all peaceniks are commies, see how that works?
The KLF Have been silent too long.
The KLF Have been silent too long.
The great thing about the Silence idea is that decent, libertarian anti-war types like the estimable Jim Henley of Unqualified Offerings can make their case without the usual facile anti-American crap which has been the standard fare of the anti-war crowd. We actually need a proper debate about the pros and cons.
Yeah… would be nice if both sides; the
“EVIL BUSH! OIL INTERESTS! CAPITALIST DOGS! JEWISH LOBBY!”,
and the
“ISLAMOFASCISTS! THEY HATE US BECAUSE WE’RE SUCCESSFUL! SADDAM REPRESENTS AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO THE US! AXIS OF EVIL!”
would shut the hell up, or at least stop shouting their slogans & start talking calmly.
Personally, I’m anti-war, but I’m willing to listen to reason. Very little that comes out of either side is actually reasonable.
