We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Karl Marx was nearly right The quick version of something the old plague-carrier said is that history repeats itself, the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.
Second time as tragedy and farce would have been more accurate.
Top comment: “I did not set a red line, Bush did it and you are a racist”

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

Kevin Rudd the soon to be ousted Prime Minister inadvertently came up with the perfect Spoonerism to describe academics: Fart smoke from smart folk.
I think I saw his lips moving…
What a dreary man Mr. Obama is!
Is the “second time” link working? I can’t get it.
If politics is a merry-go-round, then going around far left means you’ll return on the right. Otherwise, KM will always be far left.
Dom, although the link did work for me eventually it seemed to be very slow. It was to a straightforward TIME magazine report of Obama’s recent speech where he said that he didn’t set the red line, the world did. I’ve replaced it with a similar McClatchy report.
According to Obama, it isn’t His red line, it’s the World’s red line. When do the rest of us get to vote on attacking Syria?
Insty quotes twitchy: Obama on the ‘red line’: I didn’t draw that. Somebody else made that happen.
There seems to be a disparate impact in plausible deniability.
Before the 2008 elections in the U.S. my circle believed that this charlatan was actually a scarecrow having a dusky pumpkin for a head, animated by a witch’s spell (as in the short story “Feathertop” by Nathaniel Hawthorne).
After the election we determined that the witch was Obama, and that he had cast a spell on 53% of the electorate.
I love that “top comment”.
It sums up the culture – Hollywood, the media, the universities (the whole thing).
They truly are pathetic – but its seems to work.
The students (and other such) lap it up.
Regional: Well done! :>)))!!!
