We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

The Christmas spirit I’m not a huge fan of David Lammy, but when the Foreign Secretary and MP for Tottenham sends a tweet on Christmas Eve saying, “To all of my constituents and everyone beyond, I wish you a joyful and peaceful break and a very merry Christmas,” I mentally return his good wishes. OK, I don’t have any constituents, unless you count oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus and assorted other elements, but you know what I mean.
His fellow Labour MP Zarah Sultana is having none of that. She replied,
“Does that include the Palestinian people suffering genocide and being killed with British-made weapons, David?”
To all our readers and everyone beyond, I wish you a joyful and peaceful break and a very merry Christmas.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

Zarah Sultana is just channelling her inner ‘Rik’ from the Classic British TV series ‘The Young Ones’.
Merry Christmas, everyone. I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous Christmas and 2025.
Good point about Rik! Might I add the difference between then and now is then Rik was a ludicrous figure of fun and Zarah Sultana is actually in government!
Anyway, Happy Christmas one and all! And let’s hope the Sage of Kettering is wrong about 2025!
A bot or a minion could well have produce the Lammy tweet (but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he actually typed it).
This Sultana creature will definitely have spat out the bile itself.
A strange genoside where the population keeps increasing.
Amen to both propositions! I could not have put it better myself.
An example of “Projection”.
Zarah Saltana (a real person – not a character from a “Carry On” film) wishes to commit genocide – but, understanding that this is not popular with the Western public, she pretends that her Islamic brothers and sisters (whose population, as jgh points out, keeps going UP – keeps INCREASING) are the victims of “genocide” carried by the supposedly wicked Jews.
Of course, after the “Islamists” (if we must use that word) have finished with the “Saturday people” they will come for the “Sunday people”.
Snorri – yes indeed, I hope I am wrong as well – for example I would be very happy if President Trump manages to reduce government spending as President Milei has done – I just do not believe that an United States President (no matter how well intentioned) has the power to do that. So I believe that the United States, and many other Western nations (especially the United Kingdom) are in for very hard times indeed. But the young will survive – and they will see the other side of all this.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
Merry Christmas Paul! … and anybody else reading this.
And let’s give due credit to NickM for the propositions that i endorsed.
Maybe someone should buy Sultana a pager for Christmas 😬
Don’t sultanas and such go into Christmas puddings!
And yes, Zarah Sultana does sound like she should be hanging around with the Khasi of Kalabar and Bungdit Din!
Possibly it just didn’t work…
How small her heart must be.
He should have just replied ‘Yes’
These people wind themselves up with very little action from you. The only thing is they get violent which is why they like anonymity for them and not for you
A very belated Happy Christmas to all.
Yes, even the Palestinian terrorists supporters.
Snorri yes indeed – NickM is a good man and I hope he and his lady have a good year.
Day by day, from here in New York, I’m increasingly grateful for the events of 1776.
Zarah Saltana Despite the posts subsequent to the original post by Natalie I had to Google Zarah Saltana to make sure this was a real person.
Down Under a Sultana is a dried grape so with a little tweaking Saltana could, instead of being a dried grape, be a sours grape.
Just to make her day perhaps she could be wished a Happy and Joyous Hanukkah which coincides with Christmas this year.
A Happy and Holy Christmas and a Joyous Hanukkah to all.
Owie – in New York State the rulers hate the principles of 1776 – for example the Bill of Rights of 1791. Freedom of Speech is “Hate Speech”, and the 2nd Amendment has been under attack since the Sullivan Act of 1911. As for the Tax Burden – it has been highest in New York (of all 50 States) since the 1960s – New York (especially New York City as opposed to State) is propped up by the vast banking and financial services industry – but that Federal Reserve supported Credit Bubble can not carry on for ever.
David – yes I thought, for a moment, that “Zarah Saltana” was a character from a “Carry On” film – but she is a real person.
Australia, and the United States, has lots of farm land and lots of natural resources (Australia has more – in proportion to the population, per person, so it is the “Lucky Country”) – both Australia and the United States can, therefore, survive a lot of this mixture of insanity and evil.
The United Kingdom can NOT – we are a densely populated island that has to import much of its food and raw materials. London is just as much a Credit Bubble as New York is – the difference is that the United States is a vast country, and the United Kingdom is NOT.
Australia and the United States are in for hard times – but it is going to be a lot worse here in the United Kingdom.
How stupid of me – I clicked on the e.mail address again. I really must look – not click on autopilot.
