We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Samizdata quote of the day – Met Office uses junk

At the very least, given the scientific importance of the CET, the Met Office could at least move the stations to more suitable nearby locations away from the disqualifying heat corruptions.

But if adding near-junk figures to the collection is not bad enough, the investigative science writer Paul Homewood last year discovered considerable tampering in 2022 with the recent CET record. He initially found that in version one, the summer of 1995 had been 0.1°C warmer than 2018. In version 2, the two years swapped places with 1995 cooled by 0.07°C and 2018 warmed by 0.13°C. Alerted to these changes, Homewood then analysed the full record from version 1 to 2, and the graph below shows what he found.

Remember, if there isn’t enough warming in the present to generate the required hysteria, you can always cool down the past!

I was prepared to believe some of the global warming hysteria rested on some sincere scientists who started with a grain of truth but just lost a sense of perspective. Then I saw them actually revising the past temperature records downward to create exaggerated slopes and I now have no doubt that they are prepared to consciously lie to us to promote the cause.

  • I never had any doubt to begin with…

I hadn’t heard about the jets trying to land at Coningsby at the time of the temperature spike, nor that it was so short term a spike in temperature. This is just amazingly bad science.

Of course you are going to fake stuff when paying your mortgage depends on it.

This isn’t limited to the Met, either. I’ve been telling people for years about the personal observation I’ve made of what the US climate mob has done with our local records.

It’s all fraud, all the way down. Anyone who still believes in AGW is an ignorant clown who’s not actually examined the evidence. You can tell from the credulous way they all behave, and how they brain-lock when it gets pointed out how many of their heroes of the movement have purchased very expensive homes on the coast near places like Martha’s Vinyard.

Also, the extensive flights made by all of them, aboard carbon-emitting jets…

Whole thing is a fraud. Just like “Renewable” energy; it’s designed to make their friends wealthy through government subsidies and grants like the ones they scraped off Solyndra.

Most of the US deficit has gone to these essentially criminal types and their supporters. I say that we do forensic accounting, and find out just who paid them off, and what happened to the money. Then, take it back; if Nancy Pelosi winds up living under a bridge, so be it. I can think of several local bridges in need of trolls…

The Central England Temperature (CET) record has long been a thorn in the side of the climate schemers. It showed warmer spells, it showed spells of faster temperaure growth, it showed no sign of CO2 being a big deal. Looks like the current tactic is to rubbish the reputation of the CET by loading it up with low grade data.

Re the invaluable ‘Climate the Movie’, a bibliography has been published:

It contains this reference on the CET:

American government agencies are worse – they change physical historic temperature data to fit the C02 is evil theory (see the work of Tony Heller, Realclimatescience.com in exposing government fraud).

Pragmatist philosophy means they think that lying, whether it is about historic temperature figures, election results, legal trials (and so on) is acceptable.
