Oh, I dunno. In the US, the Libertarian party is best known for its internecine pissing contests. I suppose it depends on your definitions of “libertarian” and “romantic.”

  • K

Presumably because the followers of lost causes are always romantic.

  • Mr. Ed (Arkengarthdale, Richmondshire)

“Libertarian men are the most space-colonisation obsessed people in the world”.

Sounds about right. Or ‘right but romantic‘,

as opposed to socialists who are wrong and repulsive.

  • Well, I am romantic and libertarian. Not much into space as such. Despite having an MSc in Astrophysics (Queen Mary, London) I just think robots do it better.

  • Paul Marks

    The short answer is “no”.

The words “Paul Marks” and “romantic” do not really go together.

However, the words “Michael Jennings” and “romantic” certainly do.

Clearly a sensitive soul – with lots of love to give to the right woman.

Snap him up – he will not be single for long!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Odd, I’ve been led to believe that flamboyantly effeminate homosexual progressive feminist transsexual “males”, of SOME “alternative” color, were the most “romantic”. (in the eyes a stunning minority of very loud experts)

  • Bod

Romantic? Not so sure about that – Mrs. Bod doesn’t think so.

Sexy on the other hand? Hell Yeah. Freedom’s Sexy. For those who want it.

Season’s Greetings and Merry Christmas, everyone.

    That is all.

  • “Oh, take me now, take me in the way that you won’t take my private property!”

I was going to make some joking comment, but Cayley clearly wins the thread.

  • The Sanity Inspector

“(Fill in the adjective) libertarians are ruining libertarianism!”

  • Michael Jennings (London)

Paul: Well, actually, he has been single for a fairly long time at this point.

    @Mr. Ed
    > “Libertarian men are the most space-colonisation obsessed people in the world”.

Perhaps the archetype of this is Elon Musk, though I don’t know his politics.

However, I just watched Moonraker again over Christmas with my kids — Billionaire builds a space industry from nothing based in Southern California. Reclusive little known about the guy’s personal life… NASA depends on him… goal is to colonize space with a group of carefully selected humans….

I think Elon Musk is really Hugo Drax and I think we need to send in Bond before things get out of hand.

So, donning my asbestos underwear, perhaps I might point out that libertarians, being students of economics, are capable of looking at the chaotic patterns in an economy and seeing the underling themes and trends, and can use them to accurately derive what will work effectively.

And so libertarian men can look at the chaotic patterns of “what women really want” and somehow extract underlying themes and trends and can use this to accurately derive what will work effectively….

  • Tedd

    Austrian school romance?

  • Fraser,
Good for Drax in building it.
Doubble-plus bad for attempting to destroy all life on earth.

Actually I seem to recal his space thing is a sort of ark and his plan is to re-seed the Earth eith the chosen elite.

Now where have we heard that again, and again…
