Here is Christina Annesley, talking about the Leeds Liberty League, which she founded:
Libertarianism is the political philosophy that holds the individual as sovereign and wishes to minimize the role of the state. We believe that every human being is born free and equal and has the right to be free to do what he or she wishes so long as he or she does not violate the rights of another human being. In practical terms, that means that we tend to be extremely liberal on social issues but conservative on economic ones. Consequentially many of our members are members of the Conservative Party, UKIP or the Liberal Democrats, but equally many are non-party aligned. Libertarianism is an ideology unto itself and therefore Liberty League attracts people from all walks of political life who share a common love of freedom.
I never got to know Christina Annesley, and now I never will.
For the same sorts of reasons that her life was so great, her death is truly terrible news.
LATER: More about Christina Annesley’s death from Simon Gibbs. The Libertarian Home crowd did get to know her, and will miss her even more.
LATER: A proper obituary, again at Libertarian Home.
Christina turned up several times and she always added to the evening. Everyone seemed to know her already. It was nice talking to someone who was still working out her career path, experimenting and making her way.
We will toast her life at the next meetup, and you will be the follow up act, Brian. I don’t envy you that task.
Simon
Very sad news.
It is customary on these occasions to say that the decreased – “had her whole life ahead of her”, but it is customary because it is TRUE.
This young lady could (and should) have lived past our present difficulties, into the bright sunlit uplands that human reason will create (via technology and so on). A new world of liberty – and the defeat of collectivism.
It is a terrible thing that the lady will not.
My condolences to both family and friends.
I can offer no comfort to you – for to do so would be to show disrespect for your philosophical position, which I assume (rightly or wrongly) that the lady shared.
One of her last tweets complained that she was not able to go out with friends due to just having had to spend rather a lot of money on antibiotics. Perhaps they proved insufficient.
If so, this is starting to happen depressingly often. We just had a young woman die from an infection here in NZ a week after a Caesarean.
Starting to think I may have been lucky to survive a massive post-op infection that put me back in hospital for two weeks in December 2008, a week after being discharged following the original operation.
Thailand is a centre for medical as well as ordinary tourism so it seems unlikely the care was inadequate unless she was out in the wilds.
Very sad news.
There are enough variables that commenting on the antibiotics and the chest infection is just speculation. The autopsy will be waiting until Sunday, according to the Bangkok Post, on account of a lack of ferries.

Linn Tinsley from Illinois was similar. I did get to know her. She convinced me to vote for Ron Paul in ’88.

I spelled her name wrong. Lyn D. Tinsley.
Aaand, NZ newspapers just learned Christina was born here in Wellington and decided to take notice.
