Who Are We?The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling. We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe. A Parish Council meeting leaves behind more bitterness and intrigue.
From what I can gather from what my parents told me, this was the sentiment of the time just like when Neville Chamberlain returned from Munich and further on Neville Chamberlain he was Chancellor of the Exchequer during the Great Depression and interest payments on WW1 loans was seriously restricting options with dealing with the Depression and Chamberlain had to make unpalatable decisions.
Well, he could have turned to Mamoru Shigemitsu and said “Nyah nyah nyah!” But on the whole, I think not.
Off Topic,
But when discussing government spending and debt on a particular area the whole of government should be considered i.e. Local, state and federal.
So the 6-year heated debate about how the world would be run was finally settled in a peaceful manner- not a bad summing-up!
It is a nice line.
