If Hobsbawm had been an unrepentant Nazi, I doubt he’d be getting so many tributes. Strange how that works out.

Who Are We?The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling. We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe. I suspect that a person could get pretty far in politics in most countries by being a national socialist, so long as they avoided that name and toned down the anti-semitism. The idea of socializing human beings instead of banks and factories doesn’t seem all that far from current mainstream political thinking, for example. Nor is blaming bankers for our economic troubles. A half-way clever professor of poli sci could probably update Mein Kampf and have a best-seller on his hands.
Am I being too cynical?
No.
Tedd, you may be on to something there. Might be a way to make a quick few bucks (or whatever your currency of choice is!). I’d use a pseudonym, though.

Good post – good comments.
