We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Samizdata quote of the day Boris Johnson says the government should go in for “more tax cuts.” More in addition to what? There have been no significant tax cuts. In fact every week there are proposals for ever more inventive methods of extorting money from the hardworking and the thrifty.
– Peter Mullen

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

At some time in the past, Governments have cut taxes- such as that tax, centuries ago, taxing people for the size of windows. So, in a technical sense, he is right. And we need more of it!!!
Since the present (basically Liberal Democrat – for that is what Cameron is) government came into office, taxation has INCREASED.
This must be said repeatedly (again, and again, and again). As the left will (are) try to pretend that the government’s “free market policies have failed” this “rolling back of the state” has not worked.
Remember the left have no honour – they even pretend that Herbert The Forgotten Progressive Hoover cut taxes and so on (of course he did the exact opposite).
Peter Mullen is wrong by accepting the Boris premise. Taxes increased
Lewis Carroll springs to mind. Boris surely would make a more fitting Mad Hatter than a March hare.
Even if Boris isn’t much, surely that’s still heaps better than ‘Red Ken’.
‘Better’ is not the same as ‘less bad’.
True Alica.
However, Boris may be more than “less bad”. I am not sure.
Sadly the London Assembly is likely to fall to the left today.
So even if Boris wins (and is better than “less bad”) London will go down.
Many thanks Mr David Cameron.
For it is his failure that is giving the left wind in their sails.
Cameron is left and socialist so he does what is supposed to do.
‘Better’ is not the same as ‘less bad’.
???
Of course it is, by definition. On the good-bad continuum it’s moving in the direction of good, even if it hasn’t actually arrived there. It’s not the same as “not bad”, let alone “good”, I’ll grant you, but that’s not what you said.
Heh:-) I saw this chain lying around, so I thought I’d give it a gentle pull and see what’s attached to it…Hi, Laird!

Very naughty of you, Alisa.
Twice!
