Gordon Brown supports the burning of Green heretics

This lead item in the Guardian newspaper today, which I read with a sort of grim satisfaction, explains how he has bought into the whole idea that climage change skeptics are not just wrong, they are baaaaaaaad. The reaction to the scandal of the University of East Anglia CRU emails shows that part of the “Green Establishment”, with odd decent exception, to be in deep denial.

Keep it up, Gordon. The more this plodding, revolting disaster of a politician and his friends continues to take this line, the more it justifies what Lord Lawson, former UK Chancellor, is trying to do in re-framing the debate over the policy of how to address real or alleged AGW. Gordon Brown: he’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Update: fresh developments at the UK’s Met Office. (H/T: Counting Cats).

    Nobody expects the Scottish Inquisition!

  • Damn,

Gordon is calling me names for a change.

  • So Gordon ‘Jonah’ Brown is on board now. This could be the end for them.

  • Damn,

Gordon is calling me names for a change.

I am so proud of you!

  • Despite its lamentable handiness to the neo-Stalinist tendency, I shall be surprised if serious human-driven climate change turns out to be a chimaera. But I shall be even more surprised if we can dance our way around disaster with a Global Fifty-Year Plan Monkey on our backs and a big green gag in our mouths. I shall watch this enterprise of Lord Lawson’s with friendly interest.

As for Gordon Brown, he ought to turn himself over to his own thought police forthwith. If he wants the public to believe AGW is real, what the hell are he and his cronies doing endorsing it? In a massive and carefully-controlled study whose raw dataset my cat has unfortunately eaten, seven out of ten Brits had less confidence in the ‘blue-coloured sky’ theory after being informed that the Cabinet stood foursquare behind it.

The science speaks clearly. Gordon Brown must furiously denounce the global warming railroaders for sabotaging the unprecedented programme of public works which alone can stave off another Great Depression, and threaten to round them all up under the ‘economic crisis’ provisions of the Civil Contingencies Act.

And lo, the popular scepticism will fade away like summer dew…

  • Alisa darling,

He’s calling you names as well.

    Well done.

I notice that Milliband referred to “Saboteurs” rather than “Deniers”. Perhaps, in the near future, secret courts will be required to rule on which of these a sceptic is. Deniers, of course, are mentally ill and must be confined to a health facility for re-education. We all know what happens to saboteurs.

Good gods, Euan Gray actually posted a sensible comment on the Graun’s discussion thread!

Wow! just wow! There is a train coming and these guys are just standing on the tracks drinking Jim Beam.

  • Euan Gray is a sensible guy (which is not always a compliment).

I know, Cats. I guess I’m just proud, period:-)

  • Other Rob… I’ll save the court the trouble. I’m not presently inclined to deny the theory, but I’m bloody well committed to sabotaging their ‘solution’!

Rather be shot than poisoned, anyway…

Ed Miliband: “The approach of the climate saboteurs is to misuse data and mislead people.” Wow! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Rarely do you see a better example of The Big Lie, of acccusing your opponent of possessing your own flaws.

The tone of this whole article is one of panic. The smell of fear by AGW enthusiasts is palpable.

I’m not often a fan of Saudi Arabia, but I like what their chief climate negotiator had to say the other day: “It appears from the details of the scandal that there is no relationship whatsoever between human activities and climate change“. If the Saudis are backing off the whole house of cards which is Copenhagen is likely to collapse.

    Isn’t that such a pity?

From the Grauniad article; “But tonight the shadow climate change secretary, Greg Clark, made clear the party line remains that climate change is a serious man-made threat.”

Well, that seals the deal, doesn’t it? Gordon Brown speaks for the Conservative Party as well as the other crowd.

Does this mean that the next time little Davie Cameron rides his bike through London, he will be followed by his empty suit in a Prius instead of a limousine? Oh the sacrifice!

The science IS settled and we have always been at war with East Asia.

  • Brown & Co see their post-political careers with the UN and eco corporations go up in smoke, when this bombs. Little wonder that they see mileage in hiding yet more data. It’s the same response they had to the debt crisis – more debt.

I think you are all being terribly terribly unfair to Mr Brown.
After all, he has single handedly saved the world once this year already hasn’t he? With his big clunking fist and his safe pair of hands?
Did he not get rid of our useless old fashioned gold reserves for a fistful of lovely Euros at the bottom of the market for us?
Did he not smash and grab the best run pension funds in the world to bring us in line with Europe and give our poor Welfare claimants a bit more pocket money?
Did he not solve Boom and Bust at a stroke, by settling for Bust?
Will he not save us again by spending our way out of ressession using his John Bull printing set, aka the Bank of England?
And did he not give away our Sovereignty to Europe for our own good of course, without asking us? Such a clever and considerate man that he is!

So if such a genius tells us that he knows the Sky is Falling, who are we to quibble over sme very dodgy looking science that seems to have been done on the back of an envelope?

We need Firing Squads, and soon, for the whole bally lot of of them!

Euan Gray is a sensible guy

    Why, thank you.

(which is not always a compliment)

    Oh. Oh, well.

The guy at the BBC who decides which bits of news are important enough to tell the proles about has apparantly said that with hindsight he probably shouldn’t have sat on the Climategate story for two whole weeks. When the story first broke, I thought that the BBC failing to report it was as big a scandal as the scandal itself, so no hindsight needed actually.

At the age of fifty-one I hope that I live long enough to be able to look at the current situation with hindsight. At least I will be able to truthfully state that it was not I that played the role of Chicken Little in all this.

From the Grauniad article; “But tonight the shadow climate change secretary, Greg Clark, made clear the party line remains that climate change is a serious man-made threat.”

Oh, well, then. The computer models are a bloody mess, half the data’s missing, and theystill can’t get their results to match observation, but the Party says it’s true. So it must be.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but for me this is just getting old. Yes, the climate is changing, possibly because of us, possibly not, possibly drastically, probably not, but how anyone can still be so certain about it in the face of such obvious chicanery just beats me hollow.

Go away, do some proper science, and stop bothering us until you know what’s really going on, and can prove it without cheating.

  • Euan Gray

As long as I haven’t surprised anyone:-)

No, but it was at least 50% nice to read your comment.

    🙂
