We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Barak and Iran I ran across this interesting article a few minutes ago.
The educated conclusion right across the Middle East is that Iran is determined to become a nuclear power. How to deal with this conclusion is far more controversial.
“Indeed”, as our good friend Glenn is wont to say.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

Does the article say anything that we don’t know?
Is anybody dealing with it?
Blah… Blah…
Iran is the center of trouble in the mideast — I’ve hoped for a youthful rebellion against tyranny there but that seems like a long shot.
Best answer to Iran is just to ignore them and keep our distance.
Its worked for the Swiss, it can work for us.
The Swiss aren’t in anybody’s crosshairs. Nobody[1] cares about the Swiss.
We are here, where we are, NOW. Making yourself meek and mild in the hopes of being attacked last is stupid, wrong, and counterproductive. The way to deal with human predators is to break their balls if they step out of line, and make sure that all of the other human predators see you do it.
[1] apart from goofball isolationists and SIG-Sauer afficionados, and both of mine were made in Germany and New Hampshire anyway.
