We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Samizdata quote of the day But the best answer to the terrorists is to dream bigger, make even more money, and visit Mumbai more than ever. Dream of making a good home for all Mumbaikars, not just the denizens of $500-a-night hotel rooms. Dream not just of Bollywood stars like Aishwarya Rai or Shah Rukh Khan, but of clean running water, humane mass transit, better toilets, a responsive government. Make a killing not in God’s name but in the stock market, and then turn up the forbidden music and dance; work hard and party harder
– Suketu Mehta, author of a splendid book on India’s most wicked and exhilarating city, getting properly to the point, even if asking for a responsive government is getting into “Be careful what you wish for” territory.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

From what the MSM has been propagating you’d think that the attack was allowed to happen by the local authorities. Either to provide an excuse for having a go at Pakistan (like any excuse is needed) or to bolster state power in India’s most liberal city. Can’t have people being too free now, thay might get to like it.
The world continues to fall apart and we sit here blabbing about how bad it is. We’ll no doubt still be typing when our door gets kicked in.
When will the various groups insisting on blowing themselves up learn that whatever their twisted or illogical motivation is, that they have to start training at least one member how not to explode. This way at least someone is still alive to hold the press conferences and give interviews to explain what the real motivation was. Otherwise it gets hijacked by the MSM and foreign diplomats towards their own ends.
Maybe Mohammad Saeed al-Sahhaf (Baghdad Bob) should start sending out resumes.
We know what the motivation was. It’s part of the global jihad. The intention is to terrorise people into submission to the demands of Islam. What more do we need to know?
H. Forte: what Ian B. said, and besides, Osama is your guy anyway. He hasn’t blown himself up, and regularly does press releases. And, lastly, who really cares? The only thing I need to know is that these people need to be stopped before they kill themselves along with innocent others. Their motives are only relevant for identification purposes towards that end.
Exactly Alisa, Ian B…
India is not without it’s own serious problems – mainly poverty – but Mumbai is a wealthy metropolis. That’s why they attacked. It is always why they attack. Anywhere which is making money or having fun is where they are likely to attack. Anywhere getting on and doing better than the Umma is (which is most places) is where they strike.
Is it a mere co-incidence that the twin towers were brought down by a trained architect?
Much ink has been spilled over the jihad but only one word really covers it – nihilism. It is the death throes of a conclusively self-fucked culture trying to drag the rest of us down with it. No wonder the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem back in the forties was pals with Adolph Hitler. He had his Gotterdamerung as well.
Well, since according to some, incidents like the latest all stem from a single cause, then it’s good to know that the world is in such great shape that only one problem, and hence only one bad guy, is behind them all.
My point was that as soon as something goes boom, the MSM and the usual crop of politicians are on TV immediately pointing fingers before the bodies are even carried out. But the actual who, and why soon gets lost in the noise. Certainly there have never been tragedies like the latest used for political and personal gain.
My point wasn’t to defend terrorists, and lets all have a hand holdimg feel good press conference to shed a tear on their motivations. It was that as soon as there is an event, the MSM and political entities (some not even geographicly or politically involved), will hijack the incident for their own ends reguardless of the actual group involved.
Meanwhile as things are spun out of control, even if the groups involved are other than originally reported, it gets lost in the noise, causing even greater damage than the original event. Especially for flase flag events. Notable examples being The Maine, the Reichstag Fire, Lavon, USS Liberty, Operation Gladio, et al.
The severity of gun control in India, combined with the lack of arms, ammunition, and training of its police, sends a great message to predators: Come and get us.
HF, I understood your point, and you are correct. But why is this important?
The original post was a half serious comment on how quick the MSM and others jump in and automatically point fingers and become experts on the motivation and intent of the actors. It just seemed to me that any group that has put that much time and energy into something sould at least leave one man standing to tell their story and prevent it being co-opted by any and all for use to their own ends. Unless the later was the intent.
The second was a response to some of the “only one cause” posts that portray events as only one dimensional that could only be commitited by one group for a single purpose. If you look back at history, events like this are quite often other than as first reported.
Whether doing it under your own belief system, or doing it and blaming others, there are people capable of doing both. Beware of zealots of any flavor. And never believe the MSM for the first 48 hours, and rarely after that.
For what it’s worth, I’m currently in Hyderabad; not Mumbai, but nonetheless the Deccan Peninsula. One of the highlights of the conference I’m attending, if you can call it that, was to be addressed by EU Commissioner Viviane Reding. Needless to say, she cancelled.
