We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Commercial creativity I would not normally be moved to link to a ‘product listing’ page for a chain of Dutch department stores called HEMA, but that is exactly what I am doing now.
Why? Because it is cool and for no other reason than that. Click and just wait a few seconds to see what happens (and no, I assure you it is not another video ‘screamer’).

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

WOW an actual entertaining use of Java and Flash, what will ‘they’ think of next. Very enjoyable.
web based genius, pure and simple
Fantastic creativity. Companies are learning that to entice us it helps to amuse us first.
Perry, that is terribly terribly funny! I love it.
Thank you Perry,
That was am amusing way to start the morning.
Wow-factor on High.
Thanks, Perry – that was great.
i actually tried to decipher names of their wares…they want me to buy staff, right?….
“ghettoblaster”?
Great!…………and I always wondered what Ghettoblaster was in Dutch ;-))
This site has been up for a couple of months now. I see it as a very well-made tribute to Rube Goldberg.
Beautifully done! Beware, though, if you don’t want sound be sure to turn the volume down. There are a lot of really loud noises there.
Actually, its direct ancestor is probably the Honda Cog Commercial, which if you haven’t seen it is one of the coolest creations ever.
If my memory serves it took about 600 takes and is entirely real, shot live action. There were two separate parts to it that were edited together.
The ad was of course very expensive to produce, probably around US$ 2 million, but it joins the very elite class of ads that people will actually seek to view.
D
Actually, the Honda advert is ripped from an artist whose name I can’t remember (German I think) who did several of these things about 8 years ago (also guessing).
Of course they are all derivatives of the domino effect.
Very good Perry.
