Who Are We?The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling. We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe. ROTFLMAO… God bless globalisation!
I’m willing to bet that the woman in the picture would love to be carrying a huge burger and giant can of diet coke home for her family. There’s enough food for at least a month in that burger. I do see the point of it though and as anti-capitalist propaganda goes I’ve seen subtler.
Actually, it was so subtle that I looked at it and thought “Yep, one day shell be able to get McDonald’s and Coke. Ain’t capitalism grand”.
I’m still not sure what the criticism is.
Are you kidding? This is pro-capitalist propaganda regardless of what the artist actually intended for exactly the reason you stated!!!
Rich Paul: Criticism? What criticism? I just thought the picture was fun.
Burger Smurger, give the lass some decent grub.(Link)
Wait, this is meant to be anti-capitalist propaganda?! I thought it was a bit crude, but definitely pro-capitalist… I mean how on earth could providing someone in a destitute country with a plenty of food and drink be considered bad?
No, I think it is just supposed to be a funny picture!
Telling that it is a can of Diet Coke
The only thing I thought is God Bless America?
Zeno: if you meant a diet coke, than you just read my mind.
Oh come on. Wasn’t anyone’s first reaction “I can has cheezburger”?
Yes but I would not admit it publicly… oh.
I saw it as yet another example of the foul American Coca-Cola imperialism, no doubt created by the Cheney/ Halliburton/ Bushitler/
Rove/ neocon cabal… but that’s just me.(Signed)
A Manhattan liberal
Yep, mocking starving, third-world people *always* makes for good advertising!
Diet coke with lime, poor woman.
