There is only one race greater than the Jews, and that is the Derby.

We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people. Who Are We?The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling. We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe. He is wrong twice: as a Jew he should know well that we are not a race, and that the greatest race ever was the space race.
The space race might have been before his time?
Don’t think there was much of a space race in the 1920’s when he came up with that quote, and he died before the space race began.
There was a time when the Indianapolis 500 was a great race, but that time is long past.
I thought the Derby was a type of hat? (-:
Julian: of course. I did not know who he was while commenting:-) So maybe the Derby was the greatest race before the space race!
And it’s Hyman Goldstein from Shimon Roth and Hamish Lipmann coming into the final furlong…
Indy is still a big, big deal, for historic reasons.
It’s about the track, on which people are going way over 200 mph where they once struggled to do 90.
To me, putting open-wheel cars on that track for that kind of performance is still an amazing thing, no matter what things have come to with IRL.
My half Jewish wife chose the wrong bloody horse!
So it’s Cauliflower cheese for tea instead of a slap up takeaway again I’m afraid!
I thought the Derby wrote for National Review Online.
