We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

The benefits of trans-European investment When Margaret Thatcher privatised electricity generation in the UK, a number of companies were set up to own the power stations, electricity grid, etc. One of these was Powergen. Quite a few other countries followed Britain in power privatisation, and Powergen diversified into other countries by participating in these privatisations. Therefore, the company now has assets in a number of places. Including Italy. Which has led to this extraordinary URL: www.powergenitalia.com.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

This was also on Dave Barry. That’s where I saw it first. What a great site he runs.
He also mentioned the www thing of something called Who Represents?, which comes out as whorepresents.com
But you’re right, powergenitalia is especially choice.
It seems better known that I realised when I posted it. Oh well.
The Applied Psychology Unit at Cambridge University used to issue e-mail addresses of the form johns@apu.cam.ac.uk, where the login name consisted of the first name followed by the first letter of the last name. I knew someone named Paul Atkins, who got paula@apu.cam.ac.uk. The realy funny one was given to someone named Chris Thomas, who got christ@apu.cam.ac.uk
Brilliant. Would these be battery or mains powered?
Hmm. Weird, I get a connection refused when I try to go there.
Still; funny link 🙂
It still works for me.
Oops. My mistake; it’s my university’s dodgy cache server playing up.
Sorry.
This sounds like a porn site to me…
I wonder how many of the hits the site gets are from real customers versus how many are from persons searching for that perfect battery-operated gift for themselves or significant other.
I just read in The Register that the page isn’t actually to do with Powergen at all.
If that’s true, it’s kind of a shame. This is one of those things you want to be real.
Yeah, I just hate when I try to link up to powergenitalia and get my offer to connect refused. I find that another couple of stiff drinks often helps, though.
Well, Everybody is posting stuff so i’ll do it too! here are my links:
