Given the article posted by Natalie I think Samizdata needs to think ahead of the Statist curve. I too find this so far beyond my worst nightmares that I am near speechless – or whatever one calls the blogged word.

My parents emigrated from the UK to the US and I become more and more thankful that they did every time I hear things like this. The British government has disarmed the citizenry and virtually outlawed the right of self defense. It is gradually surrendering your sovereignty to the unelected bureaucrats of the EU and now it tries to muzzle free speech.
How depressing it is to think that the country I once thought I might like to move back to has gone so far adrift from the principals of liberty and freedom. Even Singapore would not come down this hard on this man for what he said.

Alan Henderson: Already heard that Congress (through the speaker I believe) said it was not about to go along with anything from anywhere that attempts to abridge the 1st amendment. Perhaps someone has heard something similar on the news wires.

Ironically, given the anti-leftist ire around this site, we might be able to turn to Noam Chomsky for help making trouble on this issue. Noam has always stood up for the right of people who disagree with him greatly to speak and opposes censorship of all forms, even when used against those he considers to be scum.
